Cheap Hostels in San Jose
San Jose is the capital of Costa Rica and a transportation hub of the country. If you are looking for urban life during your vacation, staying in San Jose is a good idea. You will be close to restaurants, bars, hotels, hostels, museums and shopping centers.
The advantage of hotels is that they are located close to the city center, but you won’t be paying too much for staying in such a location. If you are looking for a quieter area, then stay either in Barrio Amón or Los Yoses. Or head to the suburban areas, located 15-20 minutes from downtown.
San Jose is packed with hostels, most of them located in the city center or close to it. When choosing a place to stay, make sure to check the list of facilities. Some hostels offer free wi-fi, buffet breakfast and towels. Most of them have a common kitchen to use.
You don’t need to sacrifice the privacy either, as many hotels don’t just offer dorms; you can also choose to stay in a private room. Private rooms start at US$12 per person, per night (Pension de la Cuesta), while a bed in a dorm starts at US$8 per night (Castle Tam Hostel).
